Cleveland Cavaliers Jarrett Allen vs. Indiana Pacers
The Bet: Over 23.5 Points+Rebounds (-120)
Jarrett Allen will look to repeat or improve on a solid performance in his only meeting with the Indiana Pacers earlier this season.
Allen scored 17 points and pulled down 11 boards in a three-point loss to the Pacers back in early March. The Cavaliers’ center hit six of seven shots from the field, and his only miss came at the hands of the NBA’s blocked shots leader, Myles Turner. Turner, who’s averaging 3.4 swats per game, had four against Cleveland on March 3 but won’t be playing tonight as he continues to nurse a right foot injury.
Without Turner to patrol the paint, Allen should have his way inside against a team that defends very poorly in the paint. The Pacers have really fallen off with their shot blocker out for over a month and give up an NBA-worst 53.9 points per game in the key. In their past three, Indiana has gone well above that average, giving up an insane 62 points per from the inside. Indiana has also given up the fourth-most points since the All-Star break and is routinely involved in wild shootouts.
On the season, Allen is averaging nearly a triple-double with 12.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
The Cavaliers are +8.5 point home favorites with a +300 moneyline but expect this game to be close. The FanDuel Sportsbook’s total is on the high end at 229.5 points, primarily because of Indiana’s subpar defense.
Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry vs. Utah Jazz
The Bet: Under 35.5 Points (-110)
A team with anything but a subpar defense will have the task of slowing down the NBA’s leading scorer.
Utah has the league’s third-best defensive rating, which is an estimate of points given up based on 100 possessions. They also allow the third-fewest points at 107.4 per game in real-world scoring. Utah allows the second-lowest opponents’ field goal percentage and gives up a league-low 10.9 three-pointers a night. You can’t really ask for a better formula to try and contain the main who by far hits the most triples in the league.
Stephen Curry is hitting a ridiculous 5.4 three-pointers per night, which is 1.3 more than the runner-up in the category, Damian Lillard. Curry seems poised to win his second league scoring title atop the class with 31.9 points per game.
While holding a player to 32 points might not seem like much containment, it will work tonight if Utah can repeat what they did in their last meeting with the Warriors.
Curry was held to 32 points on 50 percent shooting back in a Jazz loss in San Francisco on March 14. They also held Steph to 50 percent shooting in their first matchup of the season while limiting him to just 24 points in Utah. The Warriors superstar will undoubtedly get his, but 36 points is a tall order against one of the best defenses in the league.
Golden State is a +2 point home dog with a +112 moneyline in a game that could come down to the wire. The total at the FanDuel Sportsbook sits in middle-ground at 225 points with hopes Utah can slow the NBA’s top scorer.
