This news comes after the current Giants closer, Jake McGee, allowed four runs in the seventh inning of the second game of their doubleheader with the Rockies on Tuesday. Rogers actually handed McGee a 6-2 lead after working a clean inning in the sixth to reduce his ERA to 1.02 on the season. McGee’s outing was the fifth time in his last six appearances that he allowed at least one run. He’s seen his ERA balloon to 5.54 on the season.
San Francisco will wrap up their three-game series with Colorado on Wednesday before a scheduled day off on Thursday.
