I was really lucky to be there! An old friend and flatmate from uni days in London in the 70s had done very well for himself and had a concession on a couple of prime seats at Wembley. He's from Portsmouth and when ever Blues or Pompey were playing in London back then we'd go together to the match. We kept in touch up to the eighties but sadly lost contact.
Just before the LC final he tracked me down after at least 30 missing years to offer me a ticket for free! We met for lunch at the Bree Marie near Euston and set off for Wembley. Fabulous seats very close to the Arsenal fans which was a bit of a challenge but to be fair the banter was amicable enough - until we won anyway!
The whole day was very special as I'd been going to Stans since 1957 and never seen us win any trophies. Spending the day with a long lost buddy was lovely and hearing the Arsenal fans moaning was a delight.
