3-Year-Old Boy Has “Died” Nine Times But Beats Doctors’ Expectations After Mom Rejected Abortion
Samson Farkas narrowly escaped death ten times already in his short life.
The 3-year-old from Far North Queensland, Australia has a rare condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means he basically only has half a heart, the Daily Mail reports.
His parents said he “clinically died” nine times and had to be revived, suffered a watershed stroke and underwent two open-heart surgeries.
But Samson keeps refusing to give up.

“It blows my mind when I think of all the odds he’s beaten,” his mother, Renee McIntosh, said. “I’ve never met anyone with such a strong will to live, which he’ll have until the day he dies.”
His mother refused to give up on him, too, even though her doctors had other ideas. She realized that no matter how sick her son was, his life had purpose.
McIntosh said she first learned about her son’s condition when she was 16 weeks pregnant. The mother of five told the Daily Mail Australia that her doctors advised her to have an abortion, but she refused.
“Something at the back of my mind told me that this kid wanted to be here,” she said.
Samson arrived prematurely after 31 weeks of pregnancy, and spent the first two months outside the womb on life support. At six months, he had his first open-heart surgery and, at 12 months, his second, according to the report.
His mother said Samson needs a third heart surgery and they do not know how long he will live, but they know he is happy because he never stops smiling.
“He could live another 20 years or it could all end tomorrow,” McIntosh said. “The battles he’s fought inspire me daily as he never stops smiling, despite what he’s been through.”
According to the Mail, the oldest recorded person with hypoplastic left heart syndrome lived into his 40s.
Samson’s story shows that every life is valuable, and abortion is never the answer because it destroys a child’s life and their ability to thrive.
