Vice President Pence speaks to soldiers at Fort Drum
FORT DRUM, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- On Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence visited Fort Drum as part of a weekend touting the achievements of the Trump administration’s foreign policies.
Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division is the most deployed unit in the Army. The unit has been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq 48 times since September 11, 2001.
In 2019, President Trump visited Fort Drum to sign H.R. 5515, the John McCain National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2019. Back then, Trump said he would visit Fort Drum again, this time, sending Pence in his place.
Not only did Pence speak, but Brigadier General Brett Funck of Fort Drum, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, and Second Lady Karen Pence all spoke before the Vice President. They all touched on the sacrifice of the families of soldiers, as well as the soldiers themselves.
The visit to Fort Drum marks Pence’s last official visit as Vice President.
