Dan Skelton’s Cheltenham Festival winner Mohaayed fatally injured at Market Rasen – 33-1 County Hurdle hero put down
CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL hero Mohaayed was sadly put down after a suffering a fatal injury at Market Rasen.
Dan Skelton’s stalwart was a shock 33-1 winner of the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2018.
Racing in the MansionBet’s Bet 10 Get 20 Hurdle live on ITV4, jockey Bridget Andrews fell from Mohaayed at the fifth hurdle.
The horse attemped to continue to run with the rest of the field but had clearly picked up an injury.
Vets were quickly on the scene but sadly had to put the nine-year-old down.
Mohaayed won close to £225,000 during his career with six wins from 37 starts over jumps and on the flat.

The clear career highlight was the 33-1 County Hurdle stunner for jockey Bridget Andrews.
She beat now husband Harry Skelton who was on stablemate Spiritofthegames back in fifth.
Another big win came in the Grade 3 Betfair Exchange Hurdle at Ascot late in 2018.
Rated 153 in his peak he will leave a big hole to fill at the Skelton stable.
Punters took to social media to pay their tributes to the Skelton horse.
One said: “What a great shame losing this little toughie today, and a great partnership!
“So unfortunate! Gutted for Bridget, Harry, Dan and everyone else connected!! R.I.P Mohaayed.”
Another said: “Mohaayed has been such a fantastic horse for all involved with him. He has been a real family horse and took Dan Skelton and all connections to the highest pinnacle.
“Really sorry to learn of his accident today and thoughts with all who loved and appreciated him.”
