11 Including Rescuers Killed in Indonesia’s Landslides
Indonesian authorities announce several landslides at the western “Java” Island in Indonesia.
Local officials have confirmed to VOA, that 11 individuals were killed and 18 others were injured.
Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency in a detailed statement said, that continuous rainfalls and storms were the main cause of the landslides, the country has recently been evident to heavy rainfall and extremely wet season.
The incident happened after a landslide struck the Cihanjuang village in West Java, southeast of Jakarta.
It was followed by another landslide, while rescuers were in the area to help exhume the dead and survivors.
While the rescuing teams were trying to save the people, who were trapped in the Mud, the second landslide hit the region hard as a result of which 11 people died and 18 others were wounded.
Joint army, police, and the local Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency teams have launched a new rescue operation in the affected area to exhume the trapped individuals
Several roads, transit routes, and bridges in the city were blocked due to the natural disaster.
