Christmas-mad mum turns her front door into a giant Santa for just £3 using a red fleece blanket
PEOPLE are getting creative with Christmas decorations this year, and not backing down from a challenge is one festive-mad mum who turned her front door into a giant Santa for just £3.
The woman wanted to decorate her door with a big fancy bow, but was turned off by the £30 price tag, so instead used a red fleece blanket and some cushion stuffing to make Santa’s head.
She used a red fleece blanket to make the clever design and used cushion stuffing as Santa’s beard and hair[/caption]She even turned her letterbox into the buckle of Santa’s belt, and completely decked out the entire area with lights and other decorations.
Needless to say her kids are obsessed with the new front door, and so is everyone else, so we won’t be surprised if we start to see the gift-giving character pop up on a few more doors around town.
Posting in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, she revealed: “I made this and total spend was £2.99 for the red fleece blanket.
“For his beard I used the stuffing of a cushion. I had some card for his belt. I glued the fabric onto some scrap wallpaper just for a bit more stability. His hat was glued onto cardboard. “
People raved about how good it looks and all for just £3[/caption]And added: “There is no restriction access to the letterbox or opening/closing the door.”
The post as racked up a whopping 14k Facebook likes and thousands more comments from Christmas fanatics obsessing over the “cute” and “awesome” idea.
Complimenting the woman, one person wrote: “Absolutely fabulous you realise everyone will be doing it now. You’ve started a new craze well done.”
“That is awesome. I wish I’d thought of it,” said another.
While a third admitted: “Absolutely incredible much better than a bow in my opinion.”
Hundreds more tagged family and friends begging them to do it with their own front doors.
Tagging a friend, one person wrote: “project for u,” while another said: “the kids would love this.”
