Kym Marsh has recalled the heartbreak of people not wanting to come to her son’s funeral because he ‘was a baby’.
The Coronation Street star and then-husband Jamie Lomas lost Archie, who was born 21 weeks premature, in 2009 when he died shortly after his birth.
Speaking on her new BBC show Morning Live, Kym shared her experience as she was chatting with Gogglebox vicar Kate Bottley, about bereavement.
‘When I lost my son, Archie, 11-years-ago now and I lost him quite late in my pregnancy,’ the actress began.
‘I personally didn’t want to talk about it initially, because I felt that if I talked about it, it would be real.
‘I had almost got to the point where I wasn’t accepting anything yet, but equally, I found that people didn’t know what to say to me or how to talk to me, so, therefore, avoided that completely.’
‘Some people didn’t want to come to his funeral because they felt…they just couldn’t cope with such a small baby’s funeral,’ she added.
‘They felt really difficult, it was a difficult thing for them.’
Kym recently paid a tribute to her son as she remembered him on what would have been his birthday.
In a moment of reflection the actress posted an Instagram picture of the items she has to remember her son including a candle shaped like an angel, a playing card with an ‘A’ on it and prints of his hands and feet.
She also went on to encourage other parents who have lost their children, to not be afraid of speaking about their experience.
‘Talking is the biggest step forward,’ she told her Instagram followers.
Kym and Jamie also share daughter Polly, nine, while the actress also has David, 25, and 23-year-old Emily with ex Dave Cunliffe.
