JUNIOR 4NCL: Round 4 – Thurs 1st Oct 20
JUNIOR 4NCL – 01/10/20 – 6 pm
Round 4: Leicestershire Juniors (3) 1½, Dundee City Juniors 6½
Tonight our juniors outshone themselves with a very convincing win!
Rishi Vijaykumar J9 won both his board one matches as we are all beginning to expect (No pressure then young man!). He was supported once again by Alexander Barron-Majerik J9 who despite a late start and finish, won in style in both his matches.
On boards 3 & 4 we had two new junior members, Josh (J10) & Noah (J12) Dickson (brothers in arms!) who have just joined us. Declan Shafi put them straight into battle and boy they did not disappoint and were both very quick (too quick!) and both showed us that Declan was right to play them both! It was a risk but it paid off in spades!
Josh Dickson on board 3 won “BOTH” his matches against a U-1000. Mistakes were made as you would expect with a time-control of 10 minutes+5 seconds. Josh seems to have a natural awareness of the whole board and finished the games off well. Nice work young man! You have what it takes to reach a higher level if you keep learning at this pace! Pressure, What’s that!
His older brother Noah Dickson on board 4 was storming his first match and with everything but the kitchen sink on the board against a King and pawn, he showed us he is talented, but inexperienced as he had checkmate in his grasp, but went for another queen and got stalemated! I guess he must have been upset with himself (natural?) and it affected his performance in the 2nd game which he lost.
Now I was watching the game and I can put my hand on my heart and say Noah is very talented and shows a lot of promise. He will learn from this match and it will make him stronger for it once he gets over the disappointment. Well played Noah, you were just a bit unlucky in the end!
We have a strong junior squad, but amazingly it has just got stronger with our new juniors Noah and Josh Dickson!
Congratulations to all four of you!
I hope both the new comers enjoyed the games!
After 4 rounds Dundee City Juniors are in 2nd place. There are 3 teams on 6 points only separated by board points.
1.Warwickshire Bears G 6 pts
2.Dundee City Juniors 6 pts
3.Rhodes Avenue Knights 6 pts
Looking good! We have three matches left but we will not face Warwickshire Bears G? Pity, but we might meet later if we do well!
15/10/20: Round 5: Friar Tucks
29/10/20: Round 6: Harrow Juniors F
12/11/20: Round 7: Surbiton Juniors C
Once again well done Rishi, Alexander, Josh & Noah!
