Pretend you’re in the Polar Express movie this Xmas at a holiday cottage next to a locomotive railway from £13 a night
KIDS can pretend they are in the Polar Express film this Christmas with a stay at a Yorkshire cottage next to a railway line – where they can watch a historic steam engine go by.
The All Aboard cottage, close to the North York Moors, has a private patio where guests can watch the train go by the house.
While not the real Polar Express, similar trains go by, and fans of the 2004 animation film catch watch from the house.
In the film, a young boy spots a mysterious train bound for the North Pole outside his window on Christmas Eve.
Train fans will notice it is The Optimist, Whitby’s steam train, with the timetable online – although previous guests claimed it only happens a few times a day, not making too much noise for anyone in the cottage
A large living area and kitchen are located on the first floor, while two bedrooms downstairs feature a double room and twin room, perfect for families wanting to stay.
- Seven nights at the All Aboard cottage with Sykes Cottages – from £382
It is also a short walk to Whitby, a seaside resort popular with tourists, and enough cafes and shops to enjoy.
You can stay at the cottage for a week, costing £382 – which works out to just £13 each, per night.
You can also book a Polar Express tour in Yorkshire, with two nights, a hotel and a ride on the train for £129pp this Christmas.
Passengers will get to meet Santa, as well as get a gift, hot chocolate and cookies during the ride.
