Amazon warns your PS5 and Xbox Series X pre-orders may arrive LATE – sparking gamer fury
AMAZON has warned that pre-orders for the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X might not arrive on release day.
Gamers raced to bag orders for the next-gen consoles last week – but could lose out on valuable play-time due to delays.
Bagging a PS5 on launch day is looking increasingly difficult[/caption]Website outages, limited stock and long online queues have plagued pre-orders for the new Sony and Microsoft consoles.
Retailers in the US and UK have been struggling to cope with incredible demand for the pricey machines.
Now Amazon is warning that some of its pre-orders won’t actually be fulfilled for release day.
That’s November 10 for the Xbox Series X, and November 12 for the PS5 (or November 19, if you’re in the UK).
Microsoft’s Xbox Series X is hard to get a hold of[/caption]The email was sent to customers over the past few days, for both PS5 and Xbox pre-orders.
“We’re contacting you about your order of Xbox Series X to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand,” one email from Amazon reads.
“We are making every effort with the supplier to procure more inventory.
“We will provide additional updates once more information becomes available.”
Unsurprisingly, gamers were left irate by the news.
One wrote: “Looks like both Microsoft and Sony should have waited until early 2021 to release.
“Of course they didn’t want to miss that holiday money, but all of these delays and countless people unable to get a console looks very bad.”
Another moaned: “I just got this email. F*** dude. I might cancel and go through my local retailer instead.”
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X – when are they out and how much will they cost?
Microsoft has confirmed that the new Xbox Series X and its smaller, cheaper sibling, the Series S, will launch on November 10.
The release date covers the UK, US, Australia and a bunch of other countries worldwide.
The disc-free Series S will cost £249/$299, while the Xbox Series X comes in at £449/$499.
So how does that compare to the new Xbox’s biggest rival, the PlayStation 5?
Sony has revealed the PS5 release date falls on November 12, but not everywhere.
That date only stands for the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.
In the UK, you won’t be able to get it until November 19.
The PS5 proper will cost £449.99/$499.99, while the digital edition comes in at £359/$399.
And one said: “It’s wild that the largest retailer in the world can’t manage to simply get people their packages on time.
“Amazon is quickly becoming a scam lmao.”
The new consoles mark the start of a new generation of video gaming at home.
These super-charged machines will be capable of rendering stunning gaming graphics at resolutions up to 8K.
And a slew of blockbuster games will be released in the coming months and years, powered by the impressive consoles.
