Viewers voiced their disgust on Twitter, calling it “distressing and unnecessary”.
Others lamented the lack of a trigger warning ahead of the traumatic scene.
One posted: “please do not watch this weeks episode of Gogglebox if you are triggered by suicide in any form, there is a very graphic scene which involves a young person attempting suicide from a programme called The Third Day.”
Another shared: “@C4Gogglebox@Channel4 Really shocked & upset by the suicide attempt clip shown on Gogglebox yesterday. I don’t believe there were sufficient warnings about it after coming back from the ad break or at the start. Channel 4 are usually so good at highlighting issues with programs.”
