A construction worker spotted what appeared to be a brain laying on the ground while walking on the beach – and decided to cut into it for a closer look.

Jimmy Senda was strolling through Racine Beach, Wisconsin on Tuesday when he found the festering organ, according to authorities.

He explained that he was feeling curious when he saw the item and decided to dig deeper into it.

‘Curiosity got to me, so I popped it open and it looked like a chicken breast,’ Senda said. ‘It took a little bit for it to really (register) of what was going on; it was a brain.’

Senda said the brain was inside of a square package that was wrapped in aluminum foil and had a pink rubber band around it. Flowers and what appeared to be Mandarin writing on paper with also found with the brain, police said.

‘I don’t really know how to explain it,’ he said. ‘I was just like, “What is this?”‘

Senda said he confirmed with city employees working nearby who also thought it was a brain.

After calling the police, Senda said they responded in similar fashion, saying ‘it looks like a brain.’

Police told Fox6 News that the brain is not believed to be human, but they are waiting on official confirmation from local Medical Examiner’s office.

Senda said he is glad that he found the brain and not someone else, like a family with children.

‘There’s a lot of kids and families that are down here,’ he said. ‘What happens if a kid would have found it?’
