West Ham consider new James Tarkowski transfer offer after Burnley reject £30m bid but Dyche insists he is not for sale

BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche insisted James Tarkowski is going nowhere, despite West Ham plotting a second bid for the England defender, according to reports.

The Clarets have already turned down a £30million bid from the Hammers amid speculation Dyche is lining up Watford central defender Craig Dawson to replace him.

Despite being knocked back, the Hammers are considering ANOTHER bid for Tarkowski, according to the Standard.

But Dyche has hit back, claiming his rock-solid centre-back is staying put.

Dyche said: “With James Tarkowski, I’m not planning on anything else other than him staying here.

“There’s been nothing relevant in terms of new offers at the moment, and we’re hoping there won’t be.

“I want to keep my best players in house, that’s for sure, and he’s a very good player who has delivered for us on a consistent basis.

“And I don’t see why he would want to leave here at this moment in time, although I would imagine the numbers involved are considerable for it to be even considered.

“We’ve got a good group here. Although it’s low on numbers, we’ve still got some very good players.”

Dyche dismissed questions about Dawson in typical style, adding: “There have been loads of reports of us being in for players over time.

“But look at how many have come true, and it’s not many. Usually because they cost money.”

And asked if Tarkowski’s situation was a distraction, he added: “Not really, it hasn’t dragged on that long compared to some others.

“Danny Ings was the longest. I’ve only been asked about Tarky about 400 times – that’s about ten per cent of the questions I had about Danny.”

Dyche is even more keen to hold onto Tarkowski after revealing his central defensive partner – club captain Ben Mee – has not recovered from a thigh injury, and has no chance of playing in either of this week’s matches .

Burnley face Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup at Turf Moor on Thursday and open their Premier League campaign at Leicester on Sunday.

Dyche said: “Ben won’t be involved in either of those games.

“He had quite a high level strain. And we’re being a bit cautious with him.”
