Supreme Thoroughbreds has been consistently achieving the top sales results for yearling, weanling and broodmares sales in Melbourne. Looking ahead to the Great Southern Sale, Supreme Thoroughbreds will be offering a draft of seven which include three fillies and four colts from many leading sires.
Manhattan Rain was the leading sire at the Melbourne Premier 2020 sale with yearlings selling up for $700,000 and Supreme Thoroughbreds has a filly and a colt who are both are very nice types.
Lot 597, a highlight of Supreme’s draft, is a filly by the multiple Group 1 sire Impending with a much-desired pedigree. Impending is by the ‘Black Flash’ champion racehorse of the year, Lonhro with multiple Group successes. In addition, the filly’s dam is a Stakes winner and is by the broodmare sire, Exceed and Excel. The Lonhro and Exceed and Excel pedigree line has already proved successful with multiple stakes winners in Australia.
‘The Impending x Mrs Kipling is a high-quality stand-out filly. I believe that she could go to any of the major sales next year. She has a good pedigree and is a great moving filly. Already we have been impressed with her’ remarked Brent Grayling from Supreme Thoroughbreds.
The only weanling of the draft by Swettenham’s Akeed Mofeed is Lot 744 out of the dam Blue Yonder. Akeed Mofeed has been enjoying worldwide success with three Stakes results added to his credentials. The dam is out of the Exceed and Excel mare, Blue Yonder with the colt’s full sister winning over 1100m last week.
‘The Blue Yonder x Akeed Mofeed is a cracking type, a big strong forward colt. I would expect he would at the top of Premier two or Adelaide next year.’
In regard to pedigree, Lot 626 is a feature of their draft. A colt by leading sire Written Tycoon and out of the dam Platinum Rocker who amassed over $600,000 in prizemoney through-out her racing career, and has black-type on speed winning at Group at Listed level over 1400m and 1200m respectively. ‘We have a Written Tycoon x Platinum Rocker who’s a little bit immature, but he is going to be a really nice colt with time. I would expect he would make the Easter sale or Melbourne Premier next year.’
Due to the current restrictions, Supreme Thoroughbreds welcomes on farm inspections by appointment and have embraced the challenges by offering an ‘Uber’ service. They will literally go that extra mile and bring their horses to you for inspections. Purchasing weanlings that have been unable to be viewed is very challenging and Supreme are offering many options to assist buyers in viewing options.
‘The Gold Sale didn’t have many inspections, but we went out of our way to help buyers as much as possible. It is very difficult when people don’t see the horses but we are making the most of the situation.’ Buyers are encouraged to call Supreme’s Brent Grayling on 0458 979 337 for an honest opinion of any the weanlings or to arrange inspection.
