Panic at Karnataka’s Shivamogga Dasara as tusker carrying Chamundeshwari idol runs amok
The Shivamogga Dasara procession faced disruption after tusker Somanna, startled by crowds and noise, bolted. Six out of the eight gold bangles from the howdah went missing during the chaos. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but some vehicles sustained damage. Forest minister Ramalinga Reddy announced mandatory training for elephants ahead of next year’s event. The celebrations concluded with rituals, including the Banni Pooja, amidst thousands gathered in Allama Bayalu.
