Caitlin Clark puking her brains out at halftime appears to be key to Indiana Fever victories

All of the focus after Game 2 between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces was on A'ja Wilson getting into it with a fan. That's a shame because it overshadowed a gutsy — in every sense — postseason performance from Caitlin Clark.

The Fever kept the best-of-three series alive with a 99-88 win, and in it Clark posted 27 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds.

And she did it all despite going all Old Faithful in the team's locker room at halftime.

"To be honest, I threw up everything in my stomach at halftime," Clark said after the game. "I was just out there so tired. It wasn’t because I didn’t feel good or anything. I just was that gassed."

Way to power through it. For some reason, puking is exhausting. Most of us puke and then cancel plans; Clark went out there and continued to ball.

But what's wild is that this has happened to Clark before.

And, even wilder, the Fever are 2-0 if she gets an encore presentation from her pregame meal.

In June, Clark vomited at halftime during a game against the Atlanta Dream, which the Fever went on to win.

So, with the season on the line, the team might need to make sure she takes a beeline to a prayer session with the porcelain god next game.

If I were head coach Stephanie White, I’d say, "All right, ladies, pregame meal at the raw bar down the street. The team nutritionist will make recommendations, but Caitlin, I’ve already entered you in the three-dozen oyster challenge. Finish them and you get a T-shirt. That's team building!"

Then after she housed thirty-six mollusks and earned herself a very thin, XL shirt, we'd hit Baskin-Robbins for samples of as many of their 31 flavors as possible before heading back to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

There, I'd tell Clark to relax in the steam room for a bit, and when she's done — what do you know? — it'd be time for a pregame warm-up jog.

That should create a maelstrom in the ol' tummy, but if not, I'd have some pimple-popping videos cued up on a TV in the locker room at the half just as a fail-safe measure.

That seems a bit much, but you can't argue with statistics: Clark puking means a win.

And that's what the Fever need when they head to Vegas for Game 3 on Thursday night.
