NFL wife fires back at league over ridiculous 15k fine, Presidents Cup has no juice & CBS's Melanie Collins!

Final Friday of September. It's true. I had to double-check it, but it's true.

We're six days away from October. Goodness. Weren't we just grilling burgers on Labor Day Monday? What happened here? Wild stuff.

The good news? October is, objectively speaking, the best month of the entire year. It's really not even close. MLB playoffs. Football in full swing. Hockey starts back up. Still no NBA.

The best. It's what I hope heaven is like.

On that note, welcome to a Friday Nightcaps — the one where Kristin Juszczyk teams up with her 49ers husband, Kyle, to send a stern message to Roger Goodell and the No Fun League (NFL).

What a stunt they pulled earlier this week. They have absolutely no shame. You'll see.

What else should we hit on today before we leave early because it's a Football Friday and there are five (!!!) college football games today?

I've got NFL on CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins checking in before Week 3, Al Michaels didn't have the greatest night in the booth last night, and Wyndham Clark wasn't a fan of the ... fans ... at the Presidents Cup in Thursday's opening round.

I don't blame him, by the way. But also, this event ain't exactly the Ryder Cup. Never has been, and never will be. There's just no juice in it.

OK, grab you ... some juice! ... and settle in for a Friday 'Cap:

We ended yesterday's class with the dumbest story in the NFL ... maybe ever? For those who missed it, Roger Goodell's Fun Police fined 49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk a whopping $14,926 for celebrating a touchdown by giving the universal symbol of taking a drink.

The league took it as Juszczyk "chugging a beer," according to the letter sent to Juszczyk. That violates Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which, frankly, sounds like the dumbest rule of all time.

Anyway, the Niners star has been doing that celebration for years, and it has nothing to do with beer. He barely drinks beer. Instead, it's an homage to his nickname — "Juice."

By the way, as OutKick's Armando Salguero noted, Juszczyk scored the tuddy, did his VERY BAD celebration, and then the first commercial that appeared when FOX went to break?

A Michelob Ultra ad.

Amazing.

We all caught up now? Good! Now, let's check in with Kyle's wife, Kristin, who had her husband join her for an Instagram message to the league:

"Kyle’s got a drinking problem," the caption says, followed by the little nod to the league with the text in the video that reads, "$14,926 glass of juice."

Amazing. It really is a ridiculous fine by the league, and my bar for Goodell is already so low. The NFL has been the No Fun League for decades now. You can't celebrate. You can't taunt. You can't hit the QB. You can't touch the receiver. God forbid you jump on the goal posts after you score a touchdown.

I'm fairly certain that celebration is punishable by death at this point.

But this fine ... for a DRINKING GESTURE ... might just be the leader in the clubhouse. It's that silly. Especially when all the league promotes is drinking and gambling. That's literally every single commercial on NFL Sundays. That's it. Bud Light and Kalshi.

And Jason Kelce hosting a football party, of course. Can't forget that one.

Anyway, good for Kristin for fighting back. It pays to have an influencer wife, you know?

OK, let's move this class along and check in with Wyndham Clark and Team USA:

"It was kind of dead out there. I felt like the momentum could have been better, to be honest, because we weren’t really feeling the fans, I think, as much as normal. There was a few shots — I mean, Collin hit a 5-wood on, what was it, 11 to like 10 feet, and we didn’t even know if it was on the green because no one clapped. It was a little surprising."

I don't love Wyndham Clark, but it's tough to argue with him here. I said it on Monday ... I had NO idea the Presidents Cup was this week. None. Zero. It's been the least-hyped golf event of my lifetime.

They played all day yesterday and I didn't see one thing about it on social media. Not one. I know this has always been the little brother to the Ryder Cup, but it's been as bad as I can remember this year.

And now we're going into the weekend and putting it up against college football and the NFL? Good luck.

OK, let's rapid-fire this Friday class into a big weekend. First up? How do we feel about Al's performance last night?

The confusion on the "ATL" chants were wild, from both guys. How were they so bewildered by "ATL" chants ... when the ATLanta Falcons were playing? What do you guys think "ATL" means?! Feel like that one comes with some pretty easy context clues.

For me, the worst one was Al's call on Bijan Robinson's long run in the first quarter. I can look the other way on most of it. He is 81, after all.

But the lack of energy and enthusiasm on that run was a bad look. I get it's the first quarter, but come on. This is your big game of the week. You're in Primetime. All eyes are on you.

It wasn't his best. The good news? It's only Week 3. Come on, Al! Chin up, and let's turn this season around.

Next? On the way out, here's Doug Gottlieb going on what I thought was relatively solid 5-minute rant on the current state of college athletics:

I'm not the biggest Gottlieb fan, but I actually agree with a lot of what he says there. The free-for-all that is the transfer portal has gotten laughably out of control in college sports, specifically football and basketball. It's just insane. To me, that's the worst part of this whole NIL era we're suffering through right now.

I can stomach the ridiculous amounts of money being thrown at these 18-year-olds. But seeing a 23-year-old on his 5th team in as many years just ruins the whole experience.
