Jack Osbourne admits raising kids without a nanny isn’t as gnarly as he expected

Jack Osbourne is opening up about the realities of raising five children, revealing that he and his wife, Aree Osbourne, have chosen to parent without a nanny.

"Yeah. So we don’t do the nanny thing," Osbourne told People magazine during an Emmy nominees event in Los Angeles over the weekend. "I thought it was going to be way gnarlier than it is, but you find a rhythm."

Aree, who is a stay-at-home mom, and Jack share daughters Maple, 4, and Ozzy Matilda, 6 months. Jack is also the father of Pearl, 14, Andy, 11, and Minnie, 8, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly.

The couple recently marked Maple’s first day of preschool. Jack shared a photo of Maple posing alongside her baby sister and jokingly referred to Ozzy Matilda as her "emotional support squad."

Despite growing up in one of rock music’s most famous families, Jack said his parenting style is more structured than the approach taken by his parents, the late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne.

"I’m a little more structured with my kids than my parents were with me," Jack previously told People magazine. "I won’t take them out of school just to go travel. We do a little bit, but I think structure is healthy."

Jack and Aree welcomed their youngest daughter in March. The couple named her Ozzy Matilda in honor of Jack’s late father, who died in July.

Jack was able to tell Ozzy about Aree’s pregnancy before the rock legend’s death. In a December interview with The Sun, Jack described the pregnancy as a source of hope while his family was grieving.

"It’s awesome," he said. "I think it’s been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing — probably in that kind of ‘full cycle’ category, in a weird way. It’s very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked in a bit more hopefulness."

Jack’s sister, Kelly Osbourne, has also spoken publicly about the family’s grief following their father’s death.

In a recent interview with Hello!, Kelly, 41, addressed the cruel comments she faced about her appearance while mourning Ozzy.

"I didn’t navigate it — I wasn’t well," Kelly said when asked how she handled the public scrutiny.

"How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick?" she added.

Kelly, who is mom to 3-year-old son Sidney, said she is focused on healing both mentally and physically.

"You’ve got to fix the head before you can fix the body," she said. "It’s a slow process."

"It’s going to take me a minute. I’m not going to be fixed in a day. I’m not going to be fixed on one therapy session. This is a lifetime of work I’ve got to do and continue to do for the rest of my life."

Jack has also faced public commentary about his appearance.

The 40-year-old media personality took to Instagram to respond to articles body-shaming him for being "grossly underweight" and calling him "sick," saying "I cannot believe I’m having to actually make this f---ing video."

"I have lost no weight since I got out of the jungle doing 'I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!' six months ago," he explained. "I’ve been the same f---ng weight. The only difference is I shaved my beard and opted for a creepy mustache. That’s the only f---ing difference."

He later added that he has been "brutalized by the press about being overweight" his entire life and cannot believe that even though he got "down to a healthy weight," he has been "criticized even more," telling the journalists and other body shamers that they can "get f--ked."
