First Hump Day of September. I'd say this is our biggest Hump Day of the year so far.
We've got college football for the next five days, starting tomorrow night. That's right. We have Week 1 games tomorrow night. It's here. We've done it.

I begged everyone to get the chores done the past five weeks, because this day was coming. I hope everyone got that yard in order, because free weekends are officially OVER.
How about this for a sign: I mowed yesterday after being gone all weekend in Daytona. Yard was a MESS. Right at the end, my mower gave out. She just stopped. I tried cranking her back up, and it immediately smelled like it was overheating.
Her watch has now ended. Football season has begun. Rest easy.

What else? I've got NFL reporter Colleen Wolfe ending summer on a high note before the season starts (in one week!), a new conspiracy involving Bill Belichick and the Patriots, and the influencers are wreaking HAVOC at the U.S. Open.
Is this the most infuriating video of the day? The week? Has to be up there, right? You'll see.

Yes, I know it's football season. I know the WNBA is off for a few weeks. I get it. There should be other things to talk about today, but, to be honest, it's slow out there.
It's the week before a holiday weekend, after all. The news cycle tends to slow down just a bit this week before ramping up for good until we ring in the new year.
So, yes — we're gonna go back to the well and start with Caitlin Clark.
For those who don't know, she's playing in Berlin this month with the rest of Team USA in the FIBA Women's World Cup. It's her first time on the team after being passed over two years ago.
Remember how dumb that was? Amazing.
BUT, Caitlin got the nod this year, and she made it clear today that she plans to honor this great country.
That ain't always a guarantee with the WNBA folks, you know? Don't know if you've heard, but they can be a bit ... volatile ... when it comes to the US of A.
Not Clark:
"It's crazy, and I think you know, you get used to it," she told FIBA's official website before Friday's opening tip against China. "I think at the same time, I almost think about it another way. Like, how lucky am I? This is pretty special and pretty cool, and there's so many people that would kill to be in this spot and have this type of opportunity."
"Especially to play for the USA team, let alone play in the WNBA and live out your dream every single day. So I try to look at, look at it the other way and think about how lucky I am and how grateful I am."
Yep. She gets it. Isn't it amazing how low the bar is right now when it comes to patting athletes on the back? Especially WNBA athletes?
Caitlin Clark simply said, "How lucky am I?" when talking about playing for the USA, and it went mega-viral on the internet. That's all it takes. It's all we ask at this point.
There does seem to have been a shift in American pride since the women's soccer team embarrassed us a few years back. You saw it earlier this year with the men's and women's hockey teams in the Olympics.
And then with the baseball team in the World Baseball Classic.
Obviously, we saw it all summer with the men's soccer team.
This will be a huge test, though — both for the players and the fans back here in America. How do they represent us? And, how do we respond? The WNBA is a lightning rod right now.
This was a good first test, and Caitlin Clark passed. Well done!
OK, let's keep this class flowing and gear up for some NFL football with the wildest conspiracy theory on the internet today, courtesy of former NFL analytics man, Ryan Paganetti:
"I went through more than a decade of TV broadcasts and uncovered a diabolically clever piece of Patriots gamesmanship," Paganetti said in a now-viral social media post.
"When opposing kickers lined up at Gillette Stadium, the video board displayed a reverse view of the kick, placing a second, offset set of yellow uprights directly behind the real ones.
"I found dozens of examples. In the same games, I reviewed 52 Patriots field goal attempts. The illusion appeared on Patriots kicks exactly zero times."
Whoaaaaaaa Nellie! No idea if this was intentional or not, but given the history of the 2001-2019 Patriots ... it's certainly in the playbook.
Putting the goal posts on the scoreboard, directly behind the actual goal posts, to try and confuse opposing kickers is so perfectly Bill Belichick, it hurts. No stone left unturned!
And for those who want to see it in action ...
I remember watching Billy Cundiff miss that field goal and just being numb for hours. I was sitting in the dining hall my first year at college, watching with a bunch of Pats fans, and I couldn't believe it. Even as a long-suffering Dolphins fan, that one hurt.
Makes more sense now!
OK, let's rapid-fire this Hump Day class into a big Hump Day night. First up? The insufferable TikTok influencers are at it AGAIN:
Good Lord. Look at them. Just listen to that nonsense. Intolerable.
Danny continued on in a separate tweet:
"It was at 11:44pm on Monday right in the middle of the Osaka match," he said. "The chair umpire turned around and told the specific suite to be quiet."
We used to be such a proper country. We had it so good, and we just pissed it all away. What a fall from grace.
Sad.
OK, that's it for today. Let's not end Hump Day on a sour note, though. NFL starts in ONE WEEK.
