As we enter day three of SEC Media Days, the discussion continues to center around issues that are only tangentially related to what will happen on the field in 2026.
Everyone seems to be so preoccupied with whether the SEC will secede from college football that they forget we have an actual season to play in less than a month and a half.
Fear not, SEC fans. I'm here to talk some actual football with you all, and on today's dockett, I'll be keying in on five freshmen who will have the biggest impact on the field this fall.

Not many people outside of hardcore recruiting fans knew who Jayden Woods was prior to the 2025 season.
All he did was lead the defensive line in snaps played, tie for the team lead in sacks, and earn Freshman All-SEC honors for his efforts.
I bring up Woods because KJ Ford profiles as a similar type of player from a recruiting perspective, and their trajectories after arriving on campus have paralleled each other quite nicely.
Ford is slightly bigger at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds and has the ideal body type for an SEC edge rusher.
Reports out of spring camp and summer workouts have indicated that Ford has been a monster both on the field and in the weight room, which is exactly what many were saying about Woods this time last year.

Jared Curtis was all set to go to Georgia before a change of heart found him staying put in Nashville to play for the hometown Vanderbilt Commodores.
Players of Curtis' pedigree don't pick the Vandy baseball cap off the table at the signing ceremony very often, but this could maybe signal a changing of the guard.
Regardless, Curtis has prototypical size for an SEC-ready quarterback at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds and possesses a big arm as well as the creativity to make plays happen when the pocket breaks down.
He's an above average athlete as well, which he may need if things don't go according to plan early in his career at Vanderbilt.
Offensive coordinator Tim Beck was able to mold Diego Pavia into a Heisman finalist, so I will be very intrigued to see what he can do with a five-star ball of clay like Curtis.
There will be growing pains, but by the end of the season, I truly believe Jared Curtis will be one of the hottest freshman in the country.
