Fluidra and European Aquatics launch major push to upgrade pools and bring swimming to underserved communities
European Aquatics and Fluidra are joining forces to modernize Europe’s aging pool infrastructure and expand access to swimming education across the continent.
The partnership introduces two flagship programs targeting key sector challenges: outdated facilities and unequal access to swimming. Today, more than 24,000 public pools across Europe are considered obsolete, raising concerns around safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Building on an existing collaboration in events and competition pools, the agreement marks a shift toward initiatives with stronger social impact.
A new Refurbishment Program will offer free technical audits to aquatic facilities across Europe, with no obligation. Fluidra will then provide tailored recommendations to improve safety, extend lifespan, and boost operational and energy efficiency—while aligning facilities with modern sustainability and digital standards.
The second pillar focuses on access. Through mobile pools, the “Learn to Swim” program will reach thousands of people in more than 50 regions lacking aquatic infrastructure.
Quick to install and fully equipped with water treatment systems, these portable pools can move between municipalities, delivering flexible and scalable access to swimming education. The initiative aims to tackle regional inequalities while promoting water safety, healthier lifestyles, and inclusion.
