Manchester school put into lockdown after child shoots another with a water pistol
A water gun being fired at a school pupil sparked a police response and kids to be locked in their classrooms.
Pupils at Cedar Mount Academy in Gorton were told to stay in their classrooms and hide under their desks after the alarm was raised on Thursday morning.
A police officer outside told parents that a ‘water pistol’ had been fired at a child.
The officer added that it was ‘just two kids messing around with a water pellet gun’.
The force responded to a report there was a child ‘with a firearm’, sparking the police response.

He said no injuries had been caused.
A school spokesman said: ‘We are aware of inaccurate reports circulating online.
‘Following a call confirmed by police to be a hoax from an external source not connected to the school, emergency services attended Cedar Mount Academy on Thursday morning as a precaution.
‘The situation was resolved safely. The safety and wellbeing of our school community remains our highest priority.’
