Meet Faisal Aboo: Businessman associated with extensive land holdings in Blantyre and surrounding areas
Meet Faisal Aboo, popularly known as “Mr Limbe”, a businessman reportedly associated with extensive land holdings in Blantyre and surrounding areas.
In 2020 Blantyre City South East MP Sameer Suleman claimed in Parliament that 80% of Limbe was owned by two individuals including Faisal Aboo.
Faisal Aboo owns plots 1036–1040 in Limbe East, a 50-hectare fish farming venture in Chiwembe,13 hectares land in Matindi near NOCMA,Warehouses in Chiwembe, a number of buildings in Limbe and Blantyre just to mention a few.
The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) formally filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) alleging that the Ministry of Lands corruptly awarded Plots 1036 to 1040 Limbe East (near the Railways) to Aboo/Pacific Group.
They specifically claimed that Deed Plan number 170/09 was forged.
Allegedly, in a Facebook post, Kamangira also accused Faizal Aboo of being largely involved in the externalisation of foreign exchange funds, an act which he claims contributed to the closure of Finance Bank by the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
On 19 November 2025, Mr Limbe caused two 11kV high-voltage power lines to collapse, resulting in a significant blackout across parts of Limbe’s commercial area. The incident reportedly occurred during illegal excavation works on a piece of land he intends to develop, which led to damage of Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) infrastructure.
ESCOM and Blantyre City Council fears him even your President fears him.
