Michelin updates Quebec guide with new stars and some surprises
Two more Montreal restaurants received star ratings as the Michelin Guide announced the update to its Quebec edition Wednesday morning.
Hoogan et Beaufort and Sushi Nishinokaze were added to Michelin’s list of one-star restaurants in our city, alongside Jérôme Ferrer-Europea, Mastard and Sabayon, which maintained their stars earned in the guide’s inaugural Quebec edition last year.
Around the province, two other restaurants joined the ranks of the starred: Quebec City’s Le Clan and Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc’s Auberge Saint-Mathieu.
In total, five Montreal restaurants now have Michelin stars, 51 have recommended ratings and seven have Bib Gourmands. That’s up from last year, when 44 Montreal restaurants received Michelin Recommended ratings (for “good cooking”); and seven were awarded Bib Gourmands, attributed to “good quality, good value cooking.”
Quebec City got more of the glory in 2025, with five of its restaurants receiving stars, including the only two-star rating in the province for Tanière3.
A total of 102 restaurants made it into the inaugural Michelin Guide Quebec last year, with nine star ratings awarded throughout the province. Michelin’s initial choices sparked mixed reactions in Montreal, where many of our city’s most notable restaurants did not get stars and others were omitted altogether.
Quebec is the third Canadian destination visited by the Michelin Guide, after Toronto in 2022 and Vancouver in 2023. As of 2025, the Greater Toronto Area had 17 Michelin-starred restaurants, including one two-star, Pearl Morissette; and Vancouver had 12 one-star restaurants.
This report will be updated.
