Another Arsenal Supporter Arrested in Malawi as Gunners Reach Champions League Final
As Arsenal F.C. fans around the world celebrated the club’s march to the UEFA Champions League final, police in Malawi arrested a self-proclaimed hardcore supporter over suspected stolen electronics.
Kanengo Police Station in Lilongwe has arrested 36-year-old Jafali Jeke after detectives allegedly found 82 smartphones and several electronic gadgets suspected to have been stolen.
The arrest comes at a time when momentum appears to be shifting in favour of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, whose side has reignited belief among supporters following a strong Champions League campaign.
According to Kanengo Police, Jeke — described by people in his area as a passionate Arsenal supporter often seen wearing the club’s jersey — was arrested on May 5, 2026, after a rise in burglary and smartphone theft reports in Area 25’s Nsungwi area.
Police investigations allegedly linked some of the stolen gadgets to the suspect’s residence in Chinsapo 2.
During a raid at his house, detectives reportedly recovered:
- 82 smartphones
- Two Samsung tablets
- Two Dell monitors
- Two HP CPUs
- One Tribit Bluetooth speaker
- Two computer mice
- One 20-watt solar panel
- One energy regulator
- One Airtel internet router
- One plasma television
Police said the suspect failed to explain how he obtained the items.
“He could not account for how he came into possession of the gadgets, leading to his immediate arrest,” said Kanengo Police spokesperson Sub Inspector Macfarlen Mseteka.
Jeke has since been charged with possession of property suspected of being stolen or unlawfully obtained and is expected to appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, Arsenal supporters globally are celebrating after the English giants booked a place in the Champions League final, with analysts suggesting Arteta’s youthful side is peaking at the right time.
Police are now calling on members of the public who recently lost gadgets through theft or break-ins to visit Kanengo Police Station for identification and possible recovery of their property.
