5 Takeaways From the Best-Dressed Men at the 2026 Met Gala
This year’s Met Gala was about as close to freestyle as fashion ever gets. To support the spring exhibition at New York’s Costume Institute, the 2026 Met Gala went with the theme of ‘Costume Art.’ Refined only by its equally-ambiguous dress code, “Fashion Is Art,” the night yielded serious creativity.
Perhaps the most clever take came courtesy of Bhavitha Mandava, who donned a delightfully-deceptive spoof on the look she wore to last December’s CHANEL Métiers d’Art show. With a pair of lightweight trousers and a quarter-zip sweater from Matthieu Blazy’s collection, Mandava appeared to turn up in a simple (but admittedly dashing) sweater and jeans — quelle horreur! Yet the shimmering gala lights showed that the ensemble was spun from an ultra-fine silk.
Across the carpet, attendees offered no shortage of stylish menswear moments. Below, our key takeaways from this year’s Met Gala theme — alongside a few of our favourite looks.
Black and White Doesn’t Have to Be Boring

Evening attire has a reputation for playing it safe. Yet, as SHARP cover alum Finn Wolfhard and IT star Bill Skarsgård prove, black and white ensembles can be just as exciting as their colourful counterparts. Both actors sport a more subdued palette, drawing focus to the form and fabric.
Nothing Says ‘Costume’ Quite Like An Overcoat
Draped in a soft pastel pink overcoat, A$AP Rocky was (predictably) among the most stylish men on the carpet. With two super-sized pendants and an apple-shaped bag, A$AP Rocky walks a fine line between glamour and gimmick, but — thanks to elite tailoring and a carefully-chosen colour scheme — he stayed on the right side.
Subversive Silhouettes Will Pay Off

Connor Storrie and Rauw Alejandro offered two opposite, yet equally-inspiring takes on the traditional menswear silhouette. With elongated shoulders and a deep V, Alejandro exaggerates the stereotypical men’s look. Meanwhile, Storrie’s high neckline, thin belt, and bare shoulders evoke traditionally feminine silhouettes. Together, both ensembles indicate the days of formulaic, gendered fashion are numbered.
Embrace Costume Makeup (When You Have the Chance)
If you had told us that Bad Bunny had been working on his Met Gala look since February’s Super Bowl show, we’d have believed you — his transformation turned heads. From deceivingly-dry hair to forehead wrinkles, the chart-topping performer reminds us what a costume should be.
Don’t Be Afraid of Bright Colours and Bold Patterns
Colman Domingo always ends up on our best-dressed lists, and this year’s Met Gala was no exception. Domingo’s cheery jacket is packed with fluorescent fun, while spirited red stripes beckon the dance floor.
