2 more CUPE long term care homes set to join strike

HALIFAX, NS — Long term care workers from Melville Lodge and Shoreham Village, represented by Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 3840 and 3454 respectively, are poised to hit picket lines May 7 and 8 at 7 AM, joining 30 other homes already on strike province wide.

“This government clearly thinks that ignoring us will force us to give up and go back to work,” said CUPE Long Term and Community Care Committee Chair Christa Sweeney, “but the opposite is true. We’re not backing down until the government comes back to the table to negotiate a deal that works for everyone.”

Melville Lodge will begin picketing on May 7 at 50 Shoreham Lane, Halifax, NS.

Shoreham Village will open their pickets on May 8 at 50 Shoreham Village Cresent, Chester, NS.
