With Over 300,000 Signatures Collected, Alberta Separatists Call on Premier To Trigger Referendum, as Oil-Rich Province Moves To Leave Woke Canada
Albertans are one step closer to secession.
We have been reporting here on TGP about the movement in the oil-rich province of Alberta that aims to leave Canada, and how some of these people stand up for joining the United States.
Yesterday (4), Alberta separatists announced that they have formally submitted almost 302,000 signatures to try to trigger an October referendum on the province leaving Canada.
IT’S OFFICIAL: Mitch Sylvester has announced 301,620 signatures for the Alberta independence petition outside Elections Alberta’s office in Edmonton.

Associated Press reported:
“The group needed 178,000 signatures to force the province to consider such a vote.
The question of separation could go on a provincewide ballot as early as October, as Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has said she would move forward if enough names are gathered and verified. Smith has said she personally does not support the oil-rich province leaving Canada.”
Hundreds of Albertans assembled outside Elections Alberta for the delivery of the Alberta Independence petitions.

If the referendum is held and the ‘yes’ vote wins, negotiations with the federal government will take place, and judicial obstacles will have to be overcome.
Some Indigenous groups would certainly appeal to the courts to stop independence from happening.
301,620 Albertans signed the independence petition.
That’s roughly 17% of the number of people who voted in the last provincial election.
And it happened through the coldest, harshest months of winter.
That is not fringe. That is a movement.

“Mitch Sylvestre, the head of Stay Free Alberta, arrived at the Elections Alberta office in Edmonton on Monday leading a convoy of seven trucks to deliver the names.
‘This day is historic in Alberta history’, Sylvestre said. ‘It’s the first step to the next step — we’ve gotten by Round 3 and now we’re in the Stanley Cup final’.”
Referendum mode activated.
