In some cases, Hollywood's finest outdo themselves and dress even better than they did at the actual gala. Other times, they swing and miss with out-there ensembles.
Here's a look at the stars who did the latter, like Margot Robbie, and the ones who stunned, like Connor Storrie.

The "Heated Rivalry" star made his Met Gala debut last night, and also attended his first after-parties following the event. He did the latter in a neutral statement ensemble.
Storrie wore a tan blazer with no shirt underneath, matching trousers, black leather boots, and a brown cape that flowed behind him as he walked.
The actor looked like Hollywood royalty in the outfit.

Unlike his "Heated Rivalry" costar, Williams missed the mark entirely with his after-party fashion.
Wearing ERL, Williams arrived in a white tuxedo shirt, a white cummerbund, and a black tuxedo jacket. However, he decided to pair the top with white shorts, showing off double-layered white socks and black loafers. He accessorized with black sunglasses and a black beret.
His fashion risk with the shorts just didn't pay off. It almost seemed like Williams simply forgot to change out of his casual getting-ready wear from the waist down before leaving his hotel. Different bottoms could have made all the difference.

The Rhode founder missed the mark with her Met Gala gown, but she turned things around at an after-party.
She stepped out to celebrate in a white, sculptural bodysuit that hugged her form and looked like a piece of art.
The Dilara Findikoglu design featured a halter neckline with a connected panel covering one side of her chest, layers of different fabrics across its bodice, and a miniskirt. She wore it with white sandals and diamond earrings.

McRae's gold after-party gown looked like a modified version of the custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin dress she wore to the gala itself, which makes sense since the brand also designed her second look.
Made of semi-sheer, gold lace, the dress had a sweetheart neckline and hit the singer at the knees. Sandals, sunglasses, and a ponytail gave the look a beachy feel.
McRae looked pretty, but the dress didn't stand out from her previous look of the night. It would have been better to see her in something completely new.

Jenner continued to follow the "Costume Art" theme following the Met Gala.
She left her hotel to attend an after-party in a custom Gap Studio by Zac Posen gown that made her look like a walking sculpture.
The dress had a rigid bodice that mimicked a torso, a sheer skirt that draped around her legs, and a matching, semi-sheer hood that covered her face. It was the perfect choice to complement her red-carpet look.
Worst: Margot RobbieMargot Robbie attends the Saint Laurent Met Gala after-party in May 2026.

Robbie decided to dress down for her post-Met Gala attire in Chanel. She arrived at the Saint Laurent after-party in a sequin-covered shrug, white tank top, and lightwash jeans. She paired the look with open-toe sandals and a red clutch.
Ultimately, the ensemble was too casual. It looked like Robbie could have worn the outfit to lunch, so it wasn't the best choice for a Met after-party.

After walking the Met red carpet in a flowing pastel gown, Schafer took a drastically different approach to her after-party look — and it worked for her.
The actor wore a sheer, sleeveless minidress decorated with asymmetrical patches of black velvet.
The Steve O Smith design made for a fun party look, which she completed with black pumps and a metallic yellow purse.

Sennott was unfortunately underdressed for any after-party. She was photographed wearing high-waisted micro shorts, a matching bralette, a cropped jacket, semi-sheer tights, and gold heels after the Met Gala.
The look was too simple for the occasion and ultimately forgettable. She could have made a bigger statement if she had worn an updo hairstyle, more accessories, and ditched the jacket.

Bassett also went a different direction with her fashion after the Met Gala. She arrived at an after-party in a black ensemble that comprised a matte blazer tucked into a high-waisted satin skirt.
The latter had a tall slit that revealed her semi-sheer tights and platform pump heels. She also wore a mesh fascinator.
The outfit was whimsical and perfect for a night out.

Harlow wore all-black the whole evening of the Met Gala, changing out of the suit he wore to the ball into a looser-fitting after-party suit.
The suit included a scarf made from suit sleeves, which felt on-theme for the night.
However, Harlow's ensemble was overshadowed by his hat, which looked like a sack. The outfit would have been better if he had ditched the accessory.

Kravitz embraced black lace the entire night, changing into a second see-through look for a Met Gala after-party.
Her evening outfit featured a long-sleeved lace top tucked into a satin skirt with a large bow at the waist.
The outfit was fun, feminine, and accessorized to perfection. She wore it with platform heels, a black clutch, and a fuzzy hat.
Worst: Maude ApatowMaude Apatow attends the Saint Laurent Met Gala after-party in May 2026.

Apatow arrived at the Saint Laurent after-party in a white shift dress that hit her mid-thigh. It had a straight neckline and lace-capped sleeves with tassels of sparkly fabric hanging from them.
Black heels and a floral purse completed the look.
The dress was cute, but it almost leaned professional in tone. It would have worked better at a corporate Hollywood dinner than a Met Gala after-party.

The musician might have played it safe at the Met Gala, but she did the opposite afterward. Charli XCX was photographed at an after-party wearing a see-through lace gown.
She wore the long-sleeved dress with only underwear beneath it, creating a daring and memorable fashion moment. She completed the look with black heels and matching sunglasses.
