Last seen wildly celebrating on the start line as Luke Farrugia steered his MaltaBusa FIM-E Super Street Bike entry over the Santa Pod finish line to win the 2025 Euro Finals, Simon Giordmania and team have readjusted for 2026. The headline move is Farrugia moving over to barred action with a Funnybike entry in the FIM-E Top Fuel Bike competition, and Simon taking over riding duties for this year. Simon gave us his views on the changes in both personnel and mechanical ahead of the season-opening round.
“After discussions during the off-season, the team, together with Luke, decided against competing in two classes, prioritizing safety and focus. Luke showed great ambition, but we agreed it was best to concentrate on one class for this year whist we’ll keep working together and see what the future brings.
We’ve made significant upgrades to the bike, including major changes to chassis, geometry, and engine setup, but not least, I am resuming riding duties after three years away from competition. It won’t be easy to get everything dialed in straight away, and I feel a bit rusty, and the extra rider weight won’t help, but we’ll give it our all, enjoy the journey, and make the most of it!
Jason Borg has worked alongside the team to meet the tight deadlines to prepare the bike for shipment in March and I want to personally thank Jason for his incredible help, dedication, and support throughout the entire process. The long hours and hard work we’ve shared made this possible.
A big thank you also goes to everyone who helped in any way to make this happen in time you all know who you are, and your support means a lot to us. I want to give a special thanks to my family my wife Graziella, my brother George, and my father Charles for their constant support and understanding throughout this journey.
Of course this wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, and we’re incredibly grateful for their backing so thank you to: VisitMalta – The Billet King – Elf Lubricants by Joem Auto parts – Enemed – Kuki Garage – MaxxECU Malta – MycroGraphics Signs – Parnis England Trucking – Quicktime Motorsports – Vella Brown Garage – World Wide Bearings – Hiper Developments.”
Simon is a bit of a workaholic and is also continuing to assist the Italian Carbonera team of Rudi Zorzi, which dipped into the 6.9s late last year.
“We know it will be a demanding year with long days and time away from our families, but we’re ready for the challenge and hopeful it brings great memories.”
It should be a spectacular year for the Maltese on many fronts, and Giordmania’s first objective will be dropping his PB deep into the sixes (Farrugia having run in the 6.6s last season), which will put him in good stead for what promises to be a mouth-watering championship season.
