Lara wins Venezuelan Youth Women's Baseball National Championship
Lara defeated Anzoátegui in the final, 3-2 and claimed the IX Venezuelan Youth Women's Baseball National Championship undefeated.
Gabriela Jimènez earned the win. She pitched 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out nine. She also contributed going 1-for-2 at bat. She earned two walks and scored two runs. Ana Urrieta earned the save.
In the bronze medal game, Aragua resisted a late comeback and beat Carabobo, 6-4.
Alejandra Morales pitched 6.1 innings and earned the win, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out 10. Maria Roldan got the final out after going 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Norianni Pérez contributed two RBIs.
Lara defeated Aragua in the semifinals, 10-6, while Anzoátegui overcame Carabobo, 11-3.
Anzoátegui went undefeated in the opening round, winning Group A ahead of Aragua, Caracas, Yaracui and Bolivar.
Lara also completed an undefeated run and won Group B ahead of Carabobo, Miranda and La Guaira.
