Women's Baseball World Cup: WBSC awards Wild Card to Philippines; Completes participants in Group Stage 2026
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced World No. 21 the Philippines have received a Wild Card for the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Tainan, thus completing the list of 12 participants across the two groups, which make up the Group Stage 2026.
The announcement follows the news that Canada beat Puerto Rico last weekend to book their place in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Rockford. The WBSC had previously confirmed the groups allocations on 1 April.
The Philippines will be making their debut in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup and will join No. 1 Japan, No. 5 Venezuela, No. 6 Chinese Taipei, No. 7 Cuba and No. 15 Great Britain in Tainan (TPE).

They had previously finished sixth at the IV BFA Women's Baseball Asia Cup last year at the Guali Baseball Field in Hangzhou, China - which saw Japan; Chinese Taipei; Hong Kong, China and Korea secure the four Asian spots in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Stage 2026.
The WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Stage 2026 begins with Group Rockford from July 22 to 26 followed by Group Tainan from August 23 to 27. The top three finishers of each Group will advance to the Final Stage in Rockford (Illinois, USA) in 2027.
The WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup was inaugurated in 2004 in Edmonton, Canada. Japan are the seven-time defending Women's Baseball World Champions and have reached the final in every edition. USA are the only other winner in 2004 and 2006.
WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup 2026/2027 Qualification Process
The WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup 2026/2027 is a two-stage event with 12 participating teams split into two groups of six teams in the Group Stage and the top three finishers of each group advancing to the Final Stage in 2027.
No. 15 Great Britain became the first team to qualify for the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup 2026/2027 Group Stage after winning the European Championship in August 2025.
WBSC Americas announced that World No. 5 Venezuela, No. 4 Mexico and No. 7 Cuba earned three of the continental four spots through the Women's Baseball Pan American Championship. No. 3 Canada won a best-of five series against No. 9 Puerto Rico to earn the fourth spot of the Americas.
No. 1 Japan; No. 6 Chinese Taipei; No. 8 Hong Kong, China and No. 12 Korea secured their spots in the VI BFA Women's Baseball Asia Cup while No. 10 Australia will represent Oceania and No. 2 USA qualified as a group host.

The top three finishers from each group will advance to the Finals, which Rockford will host from July 19 to 25, 2027.
