Kim Kardashian's Confusing Metal Leotard Is Actually On-Theme at the 2026 Met Gala
Ever since Kim Kardashian made her Met Gala debut in 2013 for the theme of “PUNK: Chaos To Couture,” she has become a staple on the invite list; and this year, she turned every single head with a look that’s actually on theme (despite what many think).
In case you missed it, the 2026 Met Gala theme is “Costume Art,” with the dress code “Fashion Is Art.” So Karashian went pop art! See the photo of her look below:

As you can see, Kardashian wore an orange breastplate leotard, but this has a huge tale behind it. The look is a custom Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem, and if the name Jones means something to you, here’s why: Jones is a legendary British pop artist, and Kardashian actually got his help.
In the Vogue livestream, Kardashian revealed why she chose this look: “One of my favorite artists, Allen Jones. We took his body plates that he started making in the 60s. This is actually a mold from a model in the 60s… we all worked together.”
So she truly used art from a legend to create this look; also known as being perfectly on-theme!
Before this year, Kardashian arrived with looks that added a touch of controversy. Who can forget when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s actual Jean Louis gown at the 2022 Met Gala? Or her rather strange Balenciaga look that covered her entire face in 2021?
Plus, she’s never been afraid to go the extra few miles with doing extreme makeovers. Not only did she go into intense mode, changing her look for Monroe’s dress, and donning a corset she could barely breathe in, back in 2024.
And for 2026, she confused everyone with this stunning look.
