The Met Gala Broke A Rule For Beyoncé's Daughter Blue Ivy
Blue Ivy Carter officially made her Met Gala debut, alongside her mom, Beyoncé, and it seems like the Met Gala bent a rule for the teen.
Beyoncé, who is one of this year’s co-chairs, stepped out on May 4 with husband Jay-Z and their oldest daughter, Blue Ivy, in tow, marking the first time that her mini-me has attended the prestigious event.
As it turns out, 14-year-old Blue Ivy is one of the youngest people to attend the Met Gala in recent years. The event typically has a strict 18+ age rule for guests. The rule has been adhered to since 2018 and was even confirmed in 2021 when TikTok star Charli D’Amelio didn’t attend with her older sister, Dixie D’Amelio. “The funny thing about this is, I’m actually not old enough to go to the Met Gala,” she explained during a SiriusXM appearance at the time.
However, things might have changed because Nicole Kidman, another of the night’s co-chairs, also brought her 17-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose.

Blue wore an all-white look that featured a long gown and a coat layered on top. She accessorized with a pair of sunglasses and wore her long hair in curls.
Blue has become increasingly public in recent years, joining her mom’s backup dancers on her Cowboy Tour and even doing voice acting with Beyoncé in Mufasa: The Lion King. She’s also no stranger to a red carpet after joining her mom and dad, Jay-Z, at the 2024 and 2025 Grammys.
Blue Ivy’s grandmother, Tina Knowles, hinted that her granddaughter could attend the Met Gala when she was quizzed about the rumor during an April 28 interview on the Sherri show. “I don’t know,” Tina said. “Don’t Sherri. You’re trying to get me in trouble…I would love to see her go. I don’t know. I don’t know. I hope so.”
Blue Ivy is the oldest of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s three children. She’s a big sister to 8-year-old twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
