Billy Donovan, Tom Thibodeau among betting favorites to coach the Orlando Magic
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
After failing to capitalize on a 3-1 series lead against the No. 1 seeded Detroit Pistons, the Orlando Magic have fired head coach Jamahl Mosley, the team announced on Monday.
“We’re grateful to Jamahl (Mosley) for all he’s done for the Orlando Magic,” Orlando President of basketball operations Jeff Weltman said. “We appreciate his leadership and the positive contributions he made as head coach. While this was a difficult decision, we feel it’s time for a new voice and fresh perspective. We wish Jamahl and his family nothing but the best.”
The team is expected to quickly pivot to finding its new head coach and multiple marquee names are amongst the betting favorites to land the position.
The full odds, according to BetOnline, are as follows:
Billy Donovan 3/2 (+150)
Micah Nori 4/1
Chris Quinn 5/1
Dusty May 6/1
Tom Thibodeau 8/1
Sean Sweeney 10/1
Michael Malone 14/1
Darvin Ham 16/1
James Borrego 18/1
Sam Cassell 20/1
Kevin Ollie 22/1
Mike Budenholzer 25/1

Orlando has made multiple moves to compete in the Eastern Conference, including most recently trading a haul of draft assets to land guard Desmond Bane from Memphis. Now, the Magic will be searching for a new leader to get the full potential out of its roster.
