MARSHFIELD SPRING OPENER TO JOHN BEALE! DIERINGER TOPS LEGENDS!

TIM ANDERSON, ERIC BREITENFELDT, & TREVOR SALBER SCORE FEATURE WINS!

MARSHFIELD, WIS. (May 2) – Marshfield Motor Speedway opened its 2026 racing season on Saturday, and it’s safe to say Verona’s John Beale picked up right where he left off at the track last year.

Beale made quick work of the field in winning the 35-lap Super Late Model feature highlighting  the Solutionz Spring Opener at the half-mile asphalt oval. The Verona native was joined by Devin Dieringer of Marshfield (Legends class), Pittsville’s Tim Anderson (X-Treme 4’s), Wausau’s Eric Breitenfeldt (Bandits) and Trevor Salber of Schofield (6-Shooters) as feature winners in Saturday’s mid-afternoon matinee.

Coming into Saturday, Beale was last seen at the track taking the 50-lap main event in Marshfield’s Fall Shootout back in September, the track’s final race of the 2025 season.

Beale won the 2026 opener by going from his ninth starting spot to the lead in less than six laps. He overtook Stratford’s Brandon Sischo in turns three and four for the top spot on lap 6, and sailed away to win by more than four seconds over last year’s track champion Jerad de Boer of Sherry.

Getting a tremendous bite on the bottom of the track all day, Beale had already moved up three positions when the race’s lone caution waved on lap 4 after Bradley Gajewski of Wausau spun in turn one.

While Sischo got inside early leader Kyle Genett of Rangeline on lap 4 to take the lead, Beale had already moved into third, and was inside Genett a lap later for second. He then drove inside Sischo on lap 6 when the leader slipped high in turn four, and Beale pulled away from the field.

Defending champion de Boer was the class’s fastest qualifier and gradually worked his way forward, passing Sischo for second halfway through. He was unable to make up much ground on Beale, though, and finished four seconds behind the winner at the line.

Sischo ran third the second half of the race and held onto the spot by half a car length at the finish over Travis Volm of Wausau, who ran down Sischo in the closing laps. Past MMS champion Darren Jackson came in fifth.

Dieringer won the Legends feature after a drive from deep in the 18-car field that took the green for the 20-lap event, and pulled away late after a spirited five-lap battle with Marshfield’s Elliott Weiler for the lead.

Dieringer started 13th but was inside the top five after just four laps, and slipped into third on lap 7 while Weiler got inside early leader Abby Blasel of Dorchester for first. Dieringer moved past Blasel into second on lap 8, and then got inside Weiler on lap 9.

Dieringer cleared Weiler for the lead on lap 10, but the veteran Weiler drove back to the inside a lap later and cleared Dieringer to go back in front on lap 12. It was only temporary, though, as Dieringer crossed Weiler over on the backstretch on lap 12 and was alone in first one lap later. Weiler took another look inside on lap 13, but Dieringer slowly pulled away over the final laps and went on to win with Weiler second, Cael Slater of Hayward third, Devon Lee of New Lisbon fourth and Hayden Dieringer of Marshfield fifth.

Anderson needed barely more than a quarter of a lap to take the lead in the X-Treme 4’s feature. From the inside of the second row he overtook polesitter Rylie Mullin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and outside polesitter Kamren Hill of Marshfield to take the lead, and he led the rest of the way in the 15-lap event to finish a clean sweep of the class for the night.

Marshfield’s Kamren Hill ran second to Anderson much of the race and was there until his engine went up in smoke on the final lap. Travis Hill of Arpin wound up second with Mullin third and Kamren Hill finishing fourth.

Breitenfeldt made a successful return to racing at Marshfield by winning the 15-lap Bandits feature. Driving a silver hatchback instead of his traditional red No. 14, Breitenfeldt denied Wausau’s Joe Schoener a feature win, getting by Schoener on the seventh lap and going on to win by six car lengths.

Schoener finished second after leading five laps early, while Wausau’s Abby Kohn was third, Wyatt Artac of Willard was fourth and Kip Martin of Marinette came in fifth. Breitenfeldt finished with a clean sweep of the night, also taking fast time honors plus the heat race.

Salber darted through the field quickly in winning the 6-Shooters feature.

Salber started ninth in a 17-car field but moved into third after two laps after a three-wide pass on the outside. He then drove outside Noah Ulrich of Merrill for second on lap 3 and overtook early lead Brandy King of Marshfield on the next lap. Salber pulled away from there and did so again after a brief caution resulted in the race’s lone restart on lap 9, finishing well ahead of second-place Tyler Kowalke of Wausau with Nick Wanta of Stevens Point third.

Racing continues at Marshfield Motor Speedway this coming Saturday, May 9, for the Sportsman Summer Shootout presented by Kalahari Resorts. Super Late Models, Super Stocks, Legends, X-Treme 4’s, Bandits and 6-Shooters will all be racing. Qualifying begins at 1:30 p.m. with racing at 3 p.m.
