More Than 10 Injured in US’s Oklahoma Shooting
More than 10 people were wounded in a shooting at a lakeside gathering in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, authorities said, in the latest incident of gun violence reported in the country.
According to Associated Press, the shooting took place during a party near Lake Arcadia, close to Oklahoma City, where a large group of young people had gathered.
Emily Ward, a spokesperson for Edmond Police Department, said officers received multiple reports of gunfire around 9 p.m., prompting a rapid response to the scene.
Ward said at least 10 people were transported to hospitals with injuries, while several others sought medical treatment on their own, suggesting the number of injuries could be higher.
Authorities said no arrests had been made as of late Sunday and added there was no immediate indication of an ongoing threat to the public, though investigations remain underway.
The motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, and police are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to establish what led to the violence.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about gun-related violence in the United States, where shootings at public gatherings have become increasingly frequent, raising questions about public safety and law enforcement preparedness.
Oklahoma, like many other states, has relatively permissive gun laws, and past incidents have shown how quickly disputes or gatherings can escalate into violence involving firearms.
Nationally, gun violence remains a deeply contested issue, with debates continuing over regulation, access to weapons and measures to prevent such attacks, even as communities grapple with the human impact of repeated shootings.
Officials urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward, as authorities work to identify those responsible and prevent further violence in the area.
