'Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' Quietly Teases Carnage for the Roster
Last night, Bandai Namco Entertainment and PlayStation revealed two more characters coming to Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the upcoming 4v4 tag-fighter, The Incredible Hulk, and the Shuri version of Black Panther. While those two characters are not surprising inclusions, the end of the trailer left fans with some specific clues about who is coming next, and that character is a surprising inclusion.
In the announcement trailer for Hulk and Black Panther, we got a general sense of the gameplay of the two characters and a confirmation that Hulk and Black Panther will round out the Fighting Avengers team, along with Captain America and Iron Man.
However, it was the end of the trailer that seemed to have fans talking the most. A quick green flash across the screen, when paused, reveals some interesting clues, and fans were quick to figure out what they mean. Spider-Man has scratches on his face, and a number appears in the bottom-left corner: 361. The top-right has another number next to Spider-Man: 5.
These two numbers seem to be not-so-subtle hints at Carnage being one of the yet-to-be-revealed characters. Carnage (Cletus Kasady) made his comic book debut in The Amazing Spider-Man issue 361 in April 1992.
If true, it would be Carnage's first modern fighting game playable appearance. It would also align with Bandai Namco's roster for the game, featuring a mix of Marvel mainstays and more obscure characters that haven't been in a fighting game before, like Magik, Danger, and Penni Parker, all of whom are also already confirmed to be playable.
Presumably, Carnage would be a part of Doctor Doom's team, which is now likely to be the team focused on villains.
A previous leak possibly confirmed Magento and Scarlet Witch for the game, too. Some fans are theorizing that the green glow in the trailer makes Storm's headpiece look like Wanda's crown, which could be another hint towards her inclusion.
All of this information is speculation at the moment and has not been confirmed by Bandai Namco Entertainment or Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to release on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
