Confirmed Man United XI vs Liverpool: Carrick makes one change, Diallo out but Cunha returns
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has unveiled his starting XI for today’s blockbuster Premier League clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The stakes could not be higher, with the Red Devils knowing that victory today would all but seal their return to the UEFA Champions League.
Carrick has opted for continuity, making just one tweak to the side that edged past Brentford 2-1 last week.
Senne Lammens, who has been a revelation this season, will once again guard the posts and aim for another commanding display.
Diogo Dalot is selected ahead of Noussair Mazraoui again at right-back.
With Lisandro Martinez suspended, Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven continue their partnership at the back.
There were doubts over the availability of Luke Shaw but he is fit to be named in the XI.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo start in midfield. It is a penultimate home game for the Brazilian and he will be eager to make another big impression.
Fresh from signing a new contract, Mainoo will be determined to put on a show in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
All eyes will also be on Bruno Fernandes, who sits just one assist shy of matching the all-time Premier League record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. Can he do it today?
On the right flank, Bryan Mbeumo gets the nod and will be desperate to end his nine-game goal drought on the grandest stage.
Benjamin Sesko spearheads the attack, while Matheus Cunha comes into the XI on the left, replacing Amad Diallo.
Confirmed Man United line-up (4-2-3-1): Senne Lammens; Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven, Luke Shaw; Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo; Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo; Benjamin Sesko
