INCREDIBLE VIDEO: When All Hope Seems Lost, Police Officer Draws on the Power of Prayer to Save Man from Jumping to His Death
One would find hard-pressed to find a better example of the power of Jesus Christ and prayer than what happened in Jacksonville, Florida late last month. And the Internet is erupting in cheers.
As the New York Post reported on Sunday, body camera footage taken on April 12 shows the moments where Jacksonville Police Officer Antonio Richardson speaking with a man who was standing on the edge of the bridge, getting ready to jump to his death.
The situation appears hopeless but Richardson and the six other officers at the scene refuse to give up.
Richardson asks the man to talk about what’s happening and asks to pray with him.
Over the course of several minutes, Richardson talks and prays for the man while also asking him to touch his hand.
“Just touch my hand, man. I’m praying with you,” he says. “Your hurting, but if you jump man, you’re going to hurt other people.
“And they’re going to be hurting just like you are now. And the cycle has got to stop.”
In the end, the man finally takes Richardson’s hand, steps away from the ledge, and they hug.

RICHARDSON: Whatever you’re going through man, you can get through it.
Listen, you can get through this. Come on, let’s talk about it for a minute.
Can I at least have prayer with you? You believe in prayer I know that.
You mind if I just hold your hand and pray with you? Come on man, touch my hand.
Just touch my hand, man. I’m praying with you.
Your hurting, but if you jump man, you’re going to hurt other people.
And they’re going to be hurting just like you are now. And the cycle has got to stop.
SECOND OFFICER: I know you got a lot going on…But if you make that jump it’s going to be a hundred times worse for everyone you care about.
And I know you don’t want to do that.
RICHARDSON (reaching out his hand): Come on, man. Come on, please.
There you go, come on man.
(The man takes Richardson’s hand and the two embrace)
It’a alright, It’s alright.
THRID OFFICER: I love you. We all love you.
We wear this badge for many reasons. This is the main reason.
To reach those whom the devil thinks he got. He ain’t got you.
Americans were emotional upon seeing the video.
“To reach those whom the devil think he got. He ain’t got you. We got you.” God I’m fucking bawling.

Richardson spoke about the incident during an interview on Fox and Friends last week.
“When I got the call, I was just there to stop the traffic. And then a couple of other officers who knew my position as a pastor asked me to come over and talk with the guy,” Richardson explained.
“Nothing was scripted. I did not want to see him jump,” he added. “I just felt within myself that God was going to spare his life — and he did.”
