NE swell doing its thing this morning
Hello Friends,
Shoulder to head-high sets were showing at Dee Why this morning and the Sunday crowd was out in force to take advantage. The 0830 high tide wasn’t helping matters much, and the swell had a slightly lumpy, disorganised look. Wind was coming lightly from the north at report time, but the Bureau tells us to expect it to swing to the NE and to be15-25 kts by this afternoon. So, plan accordingly. For the record, the MHL buoy was seeing 2.1 metres of 10-second period E-ENE swell as of 0700.
Outlook is for the swell to settle to the east and stay at around the current intensity through to Friday-Saturday (when it looks like going around to the south).
Water’s still on 22°C, and clean.
Go well with your Sunday everyone!
Weather Situation
A strong high-pressure system near New Zealand is extending a ridge over New South Wales coastal waters, maintaining northeast to southeasterly winds. Winds continue to remain fresh north to northeasterly during today as a cold front and its associated trough approach the state, before a shift to south to southwesterly winds later in the week in the systems wake.
