Success story: 22yo Man Utd ace explodes on loan, bags Player of the Season honour
Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek has been richly rewarded after a sensational 2025-26 campaign.
Vitek spent the season on loan at Bristol City in the Championship, playing a key role in their solid 12th-place finish.
They could have secured a top-half finish if not for their stuttering form in the second half of the campaign.
The young goalkeeper has been named Player of the Season at Bristol City.
He played 41 league games and kept 12 clean sheets.
He conceded 54 goals and recorded a save percentage of 71%. Only three goalkeepers kept more clean sheets than him.
Those numbers become even more remarkable considering Vitek initially arrived as a backup option.
The 22-year-old also swept up the Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year honours.
The latter award, voted for by teammates, underlines the immense respect he has earned within the dressing room.
Standing at an imposing 6ft 6in, Vitek is an authoritative presence between the posts and commands his box with confidence beyond his years.
Man United are now expected to reward his progress with a promotion to the first team next season.
Pre-season could offer him a golden opportunity to stake his claim for the number one spot ahead of Senne Lammens.
Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir are both expected to leave the club this summer.
United may even be willing to sanction cut-price deals to facilitate their departures and ease the wage bill.
Tom Heaton remains a respected figure in the dressing room but he could soon hang up his boots.
