High street clothing brand goes into administration after £40,000,000 black hole
Clothing brand Quiz has fallen into administration, raising concerns over the future of over 40 stores.
The Glasgow-founded group owed more than £40 million when it called in administrators Interpath.
Quiz has had a high street presence in the UK and Ireland for 33 years and employs 565 staff.
The company has 40 stores across England and Scotland, as well as seven concessions in Ireland.
For now, all stores will continue to trade ‘business as usual,’ a spokesperson for Quiz said.

A total of 109 staff working at the firm’s Glasgow head office and distribution centre have already been made redundant following the announcement, the Herald reported.
In a report earlier this year, Quiz said it had been hit by ‘challenging trading conditions’, including a weaker-than-expected Christmas period in 2025.
It added that the brand had also had to contend with ‘strong economic headwinds’, including changing consumer habits, rising business rates, and employment costs.
Stores trading in New Look and Matalan stores are not affected.
A Quiz spokesperson told The Telegraph: ‘We have taken the decision to file a Notice of Intention to provide us the time we need to explore all financing options. In the meantime, business as usual.’
Quiz was set up by Tarak Ramzan in 1993. It went public after first floating on the London Stock Exchange in 2017.

The group first fell into administration in June 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, when it later repurchased all its stores allowing it to renegotiate its rents.
Another 200 jobs were lost in February last year after the firm fell into trouble again, amid warnings the business was at risk of running out of cash within the first few months of 2025.
As of February this year, the Quiz online store no longer accepts orders.
