'Definitely possible': 21yo star hints at never leaving Man United after signing new contract
Manchester United starlet Kobbie Mainoo is ready to stay at Old Trafford for his entire career.
Mainoo recently signed a new long-term contract with Man United, committing his stay until 2031. He has also received a bumper salary rise to reflect his key first-team status.
Speaking to GQ Magazine, the 21-year-old opened up about his lifelong connection with the club he has always supported.
“Growing up, I’ve always supported United and been going to Old Trafford.
When asked whether he could spend his entire career at the club, his response was both honest and exciting for fans.
He said: “Yeah, I mean I love this club and I have done my whole life, so yeah it’s definitely possible.”
Mainoo could be a future leader
Mainoo embodies everything United’s academy stands for. He has risen through the ranks and has become the new poster boy of the academy.
Despite his young age, he already showcased his class on the international stage with England at Euro 2024.
There is no doubt that he is a generational talent and is destined for greatness at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are set for a revamp of their midfield this summer.
They could bring in two or three midfielders, but any plans must revolve around keeping Mainoo as the main figure.
The England international has the tools to evolve into a complete modern number eight over the next 12 months.
At the same time, his composure and willingness to demand the ball highlight his growing maturity in possession.
Even during difficult spells under Ruben Amorim, Mainoo never pushed for a permanent exit.
By the time his current contract expires, he will be entering his prime years.
If his trajectory continues, United will almost certainly look to tie him down again, securing his future at the club for the long term.
