Liverpool star takes fresh swipe at Arne Slot with latest joke during interview
Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah had a public fallout with manager Arne Slot earlier this season.
The Egyptian was dropped from the starting lineup due to his dip in form, and he decided to criticise the manager publicly during that period. The two reportedly settled their differences later on, and Salah was eventually brought into the starting lineup.
However, it seems the player is still not quite happy with the manager’s treatment and philosophy this season. During an interview with former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard, the Egyptian took another sly dig at the manager.
While discussing the number of assists they have for Liverpool, Gerrard said Salah has more assists than he does because he had to play as a right back for Liverpool at times in the past. Responding to the former Liverpool captain, the Egyptian joked that he had to slot in as a right back this season.
Slot has been heavily criticised for his conservative approach this season, and there have been claims that it is one of the main reasons Salah has not been at his best. The Egyptian operated in a far more advanced position last year, and he had more license to attack. On the other hand, his freedom has been curbed this season, and it seems he has been shackled by a more conservative approach from the Liverpool manager.
His remarks during the interview with Gerrard is clearly another swipe at the Netherlands manager.
Salah has decided to leave the club in the summer, and he has been an exceptional servant for Liverpool over the years. The fans would certainly have expected him to finish off on a high. However, the fallout with Slot will certainly go down as a blot in his final season with the Reds.
