‘His favourite option’ – Fabrizio Romano provides big update on Marcos Senesi to Tottenham
Fabrizio Romano has provided a big update on how likely Tottenham Hotspur are to win the race for Marcos Senesi this summer.
It is not a secret that Tottenham have opened talks with Senesi’s representatives as the centre-back nears an exit as a free agent from Bournemouth at the end of the season.
A number of sources have reported that Spurs had reached an agreement in principle with the Argentine defender, subject to the Lilywhites staying in the Premier League.
However, some journalists have suggested that Tottenham’s move for the 28-year-old centre-back can still be hijacked, with other clubs also plotting a move for the Cherries star.
Tottenham is Marcos Senesi’s preferred option despite other proposals
Fabrizio Romano has now set the record straight on Tottenham’s attempts to win the race for the experienced defender.
He explained that the defender has not given a verbal agreement yet to Spurs, but he made it clear that the Bournemouth star’s top preference is to move to N17, even though he has also received offers from the likes of Juventus.
Romano told GiveMeSport: “Senesi is also in very advanced talks with Tottenham, as he will leave Bournemouth as a free agent and is opening doors to a summer move. In this case, nothing is sealed yet and it’s also important to say that there are still details to fix in order to call that a ‘verbal agreement’.
“But if Tottenham manage to stay in the Premier League, he could really end up joining the project. Senesi also has proposals from Italy, with Juventus keen, and more top Premier League clubs; but North London would be his favourite option, if Tottenham don’t get relegated, of course.”
Sensei denies verbal agreement with Spurs
This update from Romano comes a couple of days after the player himself denied that he had decided on his next move.
Senesi insisted that he does not know who will be playing for next season, although he admitted that his Bournemouth teammates do not believe him when he tells them the same.
In the same interview, the centre-back also made it clear that he does not have a clear preference to remain in the Premier League, revealing that he is open to moving to any of the top European leagues.
