Graham is the man for the Gladiators!
Drury joins the Gladiators following a highly successful 10-year tenure at Stamford, where he has just completed his third spell at the club. His departure was confirmed by mutual consent.
A Proven Winner
Drury first arrived at Stamford in 2005 from Harrowby United and made an immediate impact, securing promotion via the play-offs in his debut season. After a spell at Corby Town, he returned in 2012 and later began his third stint, during which he delivered some of the club’s most memorable moments.
Highlights included a memorable FA Cup run featuring a famous 3-1 victory over Wrexham – a result that made national headlines – followed by a tie against Hartlepool United. Drury also guided Stamford to the Northern Premier League Midlands Division title, earning promotion to Step 3, where the club consistently competed for play-off places.
Resilience and Turnaround
The 2025/26 season proved challenging, with Stamford battling near the bottom of the Southern League Premier Central table for much of the campaign. However, under Drury’s leadership, the team produced a superb second-half recovery, ultimately finishing eight points clear of the relegation zone. This dramatic turnaround further demonstrated his tactical acumen and ability to inspire players when it mattered most.
Legacy at Stamford
Beyond results, Drury built a strong team culture focused on hard work, discipline, and attractive football. He developed several young players who have spoken highly of his influence, and he earned widespread respect across non-league football for his professionalism and adaptability.
A New Chapter at Matlock
Drury now brings his wealth of experience, winning mentality, and tactical expertise to Matlock Town. The club is looking to strengthen its position in the league and push for higher honours, and his appointment signals an exciting new era for the Gladiators.
Everyone at Matlock Town welcomes Graham and looks forward to a successful 2026/27 season and beyond.
