AJ Michalka Only Kept 'The White Lotus' Season 4 A Secret From Sister Aly For A Couple Of Hours (EXCLUSIVE)
Given that AJ Michalka has worked closely with her older sister, Aly, for the better part of two decades, it’s only fitting that she was the first to know about AJ’s upcoming role in The White Lotus.
“She was the first person I told,” AJ told SheKnows in a recent interview with Aly. “We both kind of cried.”
The sisters were headed into a recording session when AJ learned that she would be appearing in the fourth season of Mike White’s HBO drama series. AJ said that she “felt really good about” her audition, but didn’t know for sure if she had it in the bag until she got the call. “I got a call from my agent and walked outside,” she said, but she couldn’t keep it to herself for long.
“She had found out right before we were going in, but I couldn’t sense that anything was up,” Aly explained, telling AJ, “You hid it really well.”
“And then, she told me, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh. What?’ We were squealing. It was kind of crazy,” Aly said.
However, when it comes to keeping the plot of her season of The White Lotus from Aly, AJ has no fears. “I’m good at keeping secrets,” she said. Luckily, Aly won’t be pushing her for spoilers. “I want to enjoy the show [and] actually watch it as a viewer like I always would,” Aly said.
In December, news broke that AJ landed a role in The White Lotus season four, which is currently filming in the South of France. Character details remain unknown, but AJ will work closely with Alexander Ludwig.
The White Lotus season 4 will also star Chris Messina, Rosie Perez, Kumail Nanjiani, Max Greenfield, Chloe Bennet, Steve Coogan, and Vincent Cassel, as well as Laura Dern, who replaced Helena Bonham Carter in April after she exited shortly after filming began.
